Birds

One day, I noticed a pair of doves that were building a nest just in front of my kitchen window. When the nest was complete, they laid two eggs.  I began to take photos. A few days later, I saw, through another window of my apartment, two pairs of doves fighting over a spot where they both wanted to build a nest. They kept pushing and pecking each other until one of the pairs gave up and left. Those that stayed built a nest and soon two eggs appeared. I continued to photograph the two nests, the hatching eggs and how the doves took care of their squabs until they grew and flew away.  In addition, I continued to take photographs of birds during my trips in Israel and my travels abroad.

Some of the quilts in this collection feature birds inspired by my photos and some of the birds are imaginary ones, symbolizing ideas and emotions.
